ALL ABOUT EMILY MELL
From an early age, music has always been a substantial passion and drive within my life. I began singing at 12 years of age studying intense vocal technique with renowned industry professionals. My love for writing developed during the later years of my school life, where composing fed into my urge to expand my knowledge of the craft. Great opportunities such as performing at The Square and singing at the Harlow Playhouse with The Drifters kept my hunger for performing at a constant need. After leaving school in 2014, I attended 2 years of college achieving an extended diploma in music performance which encouraged all aspects of the music world: performance, production, song writing. I studied for one year at the Institute Of Contemporary Music where I was able to work closely with industry professionals and further my skills.

Within my time at college I was a lead singer and lyricist of an original’s indie rock band. This allowed me to experience playing some great venues and gigs such as supporting UK bands on their tour, headlining slots at places such as The Square - Harlow and also enabling me to perform at the Dublin Castle, which had previously been a venue performed at by Amy Winehouse. With hours spent in the studio perfecting the sound of our EP and creating home projects/recordings, my knowledge and skill set has been able to continuously grow. From the confidence gained via the band, I began branching onto more band set-up’s and performing on a solo basis for functions/corporate events. Alongside this performance work I am currently carrying out, I also work with a company providing vocals for radio adverts.

My writing inspirations come from artists such as: Amy Winehouse, Sam Fender, Jill Scott, Mahalia and Ben Howard. I have a very eclectic music taste and I enjoy venturing into as many different genres with my writing as possible, to me personally it is very important to indulge in varied music pieces as this is what provides me with my original sound and keeps my creative writing true to who I am.
In 2021 I released a 3 track EP titled The Amelioration, which received support from BBC Introducing Essex and this year am working towards another few exciting single releases. I continue to regularly gig and offer my live music services alongside my writing and recording.
